2,89,800 MT of wheat and 75,000 MT of rice offered by FCI in auctions under OMSS (D) scheme


A quantity of 17,218 MT of wheat has been lifted through OMSS (D) till July 11, 2023

Auction for sale of Food Corporation of India (FCI)'s wheat and rice commenced on 28th June, 2023, so as to have a restraining impact of the inflationary trend in the prices of wheat and rice. The auction has continued on every Wednesday since then. Till date, 03 auctions of wheat and 02 auctions of rice have been done. 2,89,800 MT of wheat and 75,000 MT of rice was offered in these auctions at a reserve price of Rs 2150/Quintal for Fair Average Quality wheat and Rs 2125/quintal for Under Reserved Specification wheat and Rs 3173/Quintal for Fortified Rice and Rs 3100/Quintal for Normal Rice. Out of which, the accepted quantity is 68,240 MT of wheat and 210 MT of rice.  A quantity of 17,218 MT of wheat has been lifted through Open Market Sale Scheme (Domestic) [(OMSS (D)] till Tuesday (July 11, 2023).

Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution Department of Food and Public Distribution vide their letter dated 13.06.2023 had issued approval for disposal of wheat and rice through Open Market Sale Scheme (Domestic) [(OMSS (D)]. 15 LMT wheat from Central Pool Stock was approved to be offered to flour mills/private traders/bulk buyers/manufactures of wheat products through e-auction under OMSS (D) with a view to moderate the increasing prices of wheat.
