DRI Seizes more than 7kg cocaine in a series of cases in Mumbai

Directorate Revenue Intelligence  have busted multiple attempts at smuggling of narcotics by carriers of international drug syndicates trying to smuggle in narcotic drug cocaine by adopting different modus operandi at CSMI Airport, Mumbai.

In one case the recovery of narcotic substance has been made from residence of an Indian person at Virar after the drug was smuggled from Nairobi through Delhi airport.

In back to back operations, out of 4 different cases in the last few days, in 2 cases DRI has apprehended 2 individuals who were trying to bring drugs into the country by concealing the same in the false cavities of their trolley bags.

In other 2 cases the carriers had swallowed the drug capsules and, had to be admitted to the JJ Hospital to extract the drug laden capsules.

In total approx. 7 kg cocaine valued at approx. 70 crore ₹ in illicit market has been Seized by the DRI officers. 4 persons(3 males and 1 female) have been arrested in the said cases out of whom 2 males are Indian nationals and the rest 2 are foreign nationals.

In one of the  cases, DRI officers also recovered a gun with live bullets without any document proving legal possession. The recovered weapon  has been handed over to the local police for further investigation.

These back to back seizures signify the unwavering dedication and professionalism of DRI as an enforcement agency to detect and bust the novel modus operandi of drug syndicates to safeguard the society from the scourge of drugs.
