Eastern Railway (ER) is continuing its trend of increasing revenue generation in the current FY2023-24 under the leadership of Shri Amar Prakash Dwivedi, General Manager, Eastern Railway.

The cumulative total revenue of ER for the period from April to October, 2023 in the current financial year recorded as ₹6432.51 crore compared to ₹5738.33 crore earned during the corresponding period of the previous financial year thus registering a growth of 12.10%. The goods revenue recorded a 13.54% increase & in respect of passenger revenue 9.71% increase recorded for the period from April to October in the financial year 2023-24 in respect of the corresponding period of previous financial year 2022-23.

The originating passenger traffic of ER for the period April – October, 2023 recorded as 653.464 million compared to the cumulative passenger traffic of 624.987 million during the April – October, 2022, registering a growth of passenger traffic to the tune of 4.56% in the current financial year, informed the ER authority today.

The introduction of more and more Vande Bharat trains has shifted the passenger preference to train route as they are getting Airlines level comfort on wheels at much lesser cost, opines the ER authority.  In fact, Vande Bharat trains comprise all the possible arrangements for the comfort of the passengers and in turn the passengers prefer Railway mode of transport and continuing increase of preference for long distance as well as short distance journey through Railway transport.
