New Office of the NCSC opens in Kolkata

Commission asserts to safe guard the interest of the people belonging to Scheduled Caste Community

The New Regional Office of the National Commission for Scheduled Castes (NCSC) was inaugurated by Shri Arun Halder, Chairman (In-Charge) NCSC here in Kolkata today. Speaking on the occasion, Shri Halder said that this will enhance the glory of the National Commission as well as it will help smooth functioning of the circle from bigger office space. The Chairman asserted that it is committed to safe guard the interest of the scheduled caste community. He said that, from the new office space, the Regional branch will work more actively to redress the genuine demands of the petitioners in shortest possible time.

Addressing the gathering, the Deputy Inspector General of Police attached with NCSC, Smt Sanmeet Kaur said that this is a momentous day for the Commission. The new Regional office with modern facilities will resolve the grievances speedily.

West Bengal is the second largest scheduled caste populated state in the country. The Commission is committed to empower and serve the marginalised communities of the region. Accordingly a new office space for the National Commission for the Scheduled Caste was opened at Kolkata with 3410 Sq.ft has been allotted by the Directorate of Estates , Ministry of Housing And Urban  Affairs, Government of India. The new office is situated at CGO complex, 3rd MSO building, DF Block, Salt Lake, Kolkata-64. The Regional office in Kolkata is presently dealing with 2994 number of cases.

Dr. G. Sunil Kumar Babu, Director NCSC; Shri Vinod Kumar Singh, Chief Engineer CPWD and  Smt. Nandini Mukherjee, Chief Architect of the CPWD also spoke on the occasion. Various organizations of the Scheduled Caste community also attended the function.
