In a resolute effort to form a new and developed nation, the ten-member media team from Meghalaya participated in the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra programme today at Banpur in Khordha district of Odisha. The journalists interacted with the beneficiaries of central welfare schemes and addressed the gathering. The members, while sharing their experience with the rural beneficiaries urged them to spread the message about schemes and programs with their peer group, so that maximum people can avail the benefits. Beneficiaries of various schemes narrated their life-changing and transformative stories on this occasion.

The team, presently on a four days’ Odisha tour also took the ‘Viksit Bharat Sankalp’ along with hundreds of villagers and watched the Information, Education, Communication (IEC) content on schemes and achievements of central government.

Later on the day, the team visited Chilika lake, the largest brackish water lagoon in Asia and learnt about its unique ecosystem and rich biodiversity. The team also visited the Udaygiri and Khandagiri caves, whose history dates back to 2nd century BC to witness the glorious past and cultural heritage of Odisha. These two hills, maintained by Archaeological Survey of India, represent one of the earliest groups of Jaina rock-cut architecture and are honeycombed with excavated rock-cut caves, essentially meant for the dwelling retreats of the Jaina recluses.
