Central Institute of Fisheries Nautical and Engineering Training (CIFNET) Chennai unit Conducted Matsya Sampada Jagrukta Abhiyan

The Central Institute of Fisheries Nautical and Engineering Training (CIFNET) Chennai Unit, Department of Fisheries, Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying. Government of India conducted Matsya Sampada Jagrukta Abhiyan on 23.01.2024. Dr. KULDEEP KUMAR LAL, Director ICAR- CIBA Chennai was the chief guest for the program and also released the Participant Handbook in Tamil on the Topic "Communication & Navigational Equipment's Onboard the Fishing Vessel". The function was presided over by Shri A. Ravichandran Deputy Director CIFNET Unit, Chennai. During this program Workshop on Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY), Blood Donation Camp, Open House at CIFNET campus and visit to Vessel M.V. Skipper-II was conducted.
The main objective of the program is to
- Enhance outreach across the country and ensure last mile connectivity.
- Reach out to 2.8 crore fish farmers and 3,477 coastal villages.
- Disseminate and promote various schemes under PMMSY.
- Highlight success stories of the department of fisheries.
- Dissemination of information and knowledge about 9 years of achievement.
The Scientist from ICAR-CIBA, CMFRI, FSI and CIFNET made presentation on the various schemes implemented by their respective organization under PMMSY. During this campaign Blood Donation camp by Stanley Govt. Hospital, Chennai was organized, and 40 volunteers donated blood. Nearly 241 participants from fisheries college, students from polytechnic college, fishermen attended this function. In the evening Open House was organized and 241 people visited this institute and 126 people visited Vessel MV SKIPPER II.
