Minister of State, Ministry of Women and Child Development, Smt. Savitri Thakur, embarked on an official visit to Arunachal Pradesh from 18th to 20th January 2025. The primary objective of the visit was to assess the progress of various flagship schemes aimed at the welfare and development of women and children in the region and to strengthen collaboration between the central and state governments.

During her visit, Smt. Thakur held discussions with senior officials of the Women and Child Development Department of Arunachal Pradesh, covering all administrative divisions of the state. Key focus areas included the implementation and progress of important Government of India schemes, such as Mission Saksham Anganwadi and Poshan 2.0, Mission Vatsalya, Sambal component of Mission Shakti, and Women & Child-centric legislations.

In presence of Smt. Dasanglu Pul, Minister for Women and Children Development, Arunachal Pradesh The MoS reviewed the progress of these scheme addressing the challenges in implementation and discussing critical issues such as infrastructural concerns of Anganwadi Centres (AWCs), vacancies in Child Welfare Committees (CWCs) and Juvenile Justice Boards (JJBs), and other operational bottlenecks.

Smt. Thakur also met with the Governor Shri KT Parnaik and the Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh Shri Pema Khandu on 18th January 2025. During these meetings, she deliberated on enhancing the cooperation between the central and state governments to improve the effectiveness of various women and child welfare programs. She also met Chairperson of Arunachal Pradesh State Commission for protection of Child rights Ms Ratan Anya.

The visit reflects the Government of India's continued commitment to ensuring the empowerment of women and the welfare of children, especially in the northeastern region, through robust implementation of policies and initiatives.
