The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), Bengaluru, successfully organized an Industry Meet and Workshop on "Recent Developments in Conformity Assessment and Standards Promotion" at RG Royal Hotel, Bengaluru. The event saw active participation from 30 large-scale industries from Bengaluru and Mysuru.

Shri K.G. Nanjappa, Additional Director of the Department of Factories and Boilers, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Addressing the gathering, he emphasized the significance of such sessions in enhancing India’s representation at international levels. He reiterated that collaborative efforts in standardization and conformity assessment are crucial for industrial growth and global competitiveness.

The event was inaugurated by Shri Narender Reddy Beesu, Scientist-E/Director, BIS Bengaluru, who highlighted the key objectives of the program. He stressed that the workshop aimed at fostering a collaborative approach among industries for the formulation and promotion of standards, ensuring quality and safety compliance across sectors.

Smt. Vinodini Kishore, Scientist-E/Director, BIS Bengaluru, delivered an insightful presentation on recent developments, industry scopes, and promotional activities that need to be undertaken by businesses. She elaborated on how industries can contribute to the standardization process and benefit from enhanced compliance measures. The workshop also featured an interactive multiple-choice questionnaire session, allowing participants to assess their understanding of the discussions. Additionally, group discussions were held on improvement strategies, where industry representatives shared insights and suggestions for better implementation of standards and conformity assessments.

The event concluded with an engaging exchange of ideas, reinforcing BIS’s commitment to industry collaboration in shaping India’s quality and standardization framework.
