The Geological Survey of India (GSI), a premier scientific institution with a 175-year legacy of geoscientific excellence, is organizing a Grand Walkathon in Bengaluru on 2nd March 2025 (Sunday) at 7:00 AM. This event, themed “Geoscience for a Safe World,” aims to highlight the crucial role of geosciences in disaster risk reduction, environmental sustainability, and infrastructure resilience.

The Walkathon will commence from Gate No. 4, GSI, Vasudha Bhawan, Kumaraswamy Layout, Bengaluru, and conclude at Gate No. 5, GSI, Vasudha Bhawan. With participation from GSI scientists, students, infrastructure experts, and key stakeholders, the event is expected to attract around 350–380 participants.

As India continues to expand its infrastructure and urban landscape, the role of geoscientific studies in ensuring safe, sustainable, and disaster-resilient development has never been more critical. This Walkathon serves as an important platform to engage the public, media, and policymakers in discussions on landslide risk management, geological hazard mitigation, and sustainable resource planning.
