MEPZ SEZ continues to strengthen Tamil Nadu’s industrial landscape with fresh approvals in its Unit Approval Committee (UAC) meeting, chaired by Thiru Alex Paul Menon, IAS, Zonal Development Commissioner, MEPZ SEZ for the Tamil Nadu, Andaman & Puducherry (TAP) Region.  The meeting sanctioned new industrial and export-oriented units (EOUs), driving a total investment of ₹185 crore and generating 2054 new job opportunities across diverse sectors.

A defining feature of this approval cycle is the commitment to inclusive hiring, with 70 transgender individuals set to join the workforce through various newly approved units. “Economic progress is sustainable only when it is inclusive. These approvals reinforce MEPZ SEZ’s commitment to creating equitable opportunities across industries,” said Thiru Alex Paul Menon, IAS.

Notable Approvals

• M/s. Genpact India Private Limited (ELCOT SEZ, Madurai) – ₹40 crore investment, 1,020 jobs
• M/s. BM Continental Granites & Mineral Limited (SIPCOT SEZ, Bargur) – ₹25 crore investment, 422 jobs
• M/s. Global Engine Maintenance India Private Limited  focusing on repair management of aircraft engine parts, making it the first of its kind in India and Premier in Asia for Aircraft engine dismantling and repairs management and  to operate within a Special Economic Zone.
• M/s. Rosti Integrated Manufacturing Solutions (India) Pvt. Ltd. (Kanchipuram EOU) – ₹14.66 crore investment, 75 jobs

The meeting also featured a Sectoral Review on Textiles  Sector with a special focus on Apparel Industry , offering insights into global trends and emerging opportunities for SEZ-based industries.

With cumulative investment approvals for 2024-25 exceeding ₹5,685 crore and 37,850 employment generation surpassing jobs, MEPZ SEZ continues to lead the way in industrial expansion, economic growth, and workforce inclusivity.
