In a vibrant celebration of fitness, unity, and community engagement, the Sports Authority of India (SAI) NSSC Bengaluru, along with its SAI Training Centres (STCs), in collaboration with the State Police Forces of Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and Karnataka, successfully organized a special edition of the ‘Sundays on Cycle’ campaign on April 6, 2025.

This initiative forms part of the nationwide Fit India Mission, a flagship movement by the Government of India aimed at integrating fitness into everyday life. Originally launched as the Fit India Cycling Drive by the Hon’ble Union Minister of Youth Affairs & Sports and Labour & Employment on December 17, 2024, in New Delhi, the campaign has since flourished into the mass movement ‘Sundays on Cycle’. With over 4,600 events hosted across India and nearly 2 lakh participants, the initiative also received recognition from the Hon’ble Prime Minister during the 117th episode of ‘Mann Ki Baat’.
The Bengaluru edition of the event was flagged off by Ms. Salima Tete, Captain of the Indian Senior Women’s Hockey Team and a distinguished Arjuna Awardee. Her inspiring presence added energy and motivation to the gathering, highlighting the value of fitness and sports in national development.

Senior police officials led the flag-offs in other participating cities and towns, with enthusiastic turnout from both the police forces and the general public. Participating locations included:
- Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh
- Kurnool, Andhra Pradesh
- Hyderabad, Telangana
- Eluru, Andhra Pradesh
- Bengaluru, Karnataka
- Bijapur, Karnataka
- Madikeri, Karnataka
This collective effort reflects the strong partnership between SAI and the State Police Departments in championing the cause of public health and wellness. It reinforces the role of law enforcement agencies not only as protectors of law but also as advocates for healthier lifestyles.
The ‘Sundays on Cycle’ campaign is a recurring weekly event that encourages active participation from schools, colleges, workplaces, and local communities. By promoting cycling as a sustainable and accessible form of physical activity, the initiative aims to embed fitness into the fabric of everyday life across all age groups.
