Union Minister of State for Ministry of Railways and Ministry of Jal Shakti Shri V. Somanna, said that the Railway Department has provided employment opportunities to 5.02 lakh youth from 2014 to 2024 under the Mission Mode Recruitment Campaign. He was speaking at the Rozgar Mela organized today (26.04.2025) at the Income Tax office, Bengaluru.

The Railway Department is continuously carrying out the process of employment generation to fulfil the vision of Hon’ble Prime Minister. It has published an annual recruitment schedule. Approximately 71,000 positions have been created from January 2024 onwards in the Railways and the recruitment process is currently underway, the minister said. The government, under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, has taken various steps to realize the dream of a Viksit Bharat by 2047 and this Rashtriya Rozgar Mela is one such initiative. In October 2022, the Prime Minister had initiated a recruitment process for 10 lakh jobs.
India aims to become a $5 trillion economy by 2025 and a $7 trillion economy by 2030. In this regard, the government is prioritizing skill development, entrepreneurship and job creation for the youth. In the current year's budget, under the Prime Minister's Package, employment, skill development, and internship schemes have been announced and this will benefit around 4.1 crore youth, the minister added.

To empower the youth of India, many steps have been taken to encourage entrepreneurship and to create job opportunities. Various schemes such as the Prime Minister Mudra Scheme, Prime Minister Vishwakarma Scheme and Prime Minister Vikas Scheme have been implemented. Under the Prime Minister Mudra Scheme, launched in 2015, loan amounts totalling Rs 32.61 lakh crore have been provided so far. Of this, a loan amount of Rs 3.02 lakh crore is disbursed in Karnataka. Under the Prime Minister Vishwakarma Scheme, launched in 2023, approximately 1.09 lakh skilled workers in Karnataka have been supported by the government by providing loans, said the minister.
A total of 143 appointment letters, including 102 from the Income Tax Department and 41 from other departments were issued to the applicants at today’s employment fair. Shri P.C. Mohan, Hon’ble MP and Shri Ganapati Bhatt, Principal Chief Commissioner of Income Tax, Karnataka and Goa Region, participated in the event.
