As part of the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation’s (AMC) flagship Mission Four Million Trees initiative, the Centre for Environment Education (CEE), under its AmdaVadmA project, has launched a city-wide Seed Collection Drive and Seed-to-Plant Workshop across schools in Ahmedabad.

The first session was held at Maharaja Agrasen Vidyalaya, setting a vibrant tone for this large-scale engagement. The event witnessed the active participation of nearly 240 students, each bringing seeds from their homes. Students were introduced to various seed types and learned practical sowing techniques tailored to each species’ characteristics and ecological requirements.
The workshop not only provided hands-on training but also aimed to nurture environmental consciousness among young minds. A highlight of the session was a pledge ceremony, where students committed to planting at least one seed during the upcoming monsoon season—symbolizing their personal role in building a greener, more sustainable Ahmedabad.

The Centre for Environment Education (CEE) encourages schools and other institutions to come forward and conduct more such workshops and awareness activities. These efforts play a vital role in fostering environmental responsibility and aligning community action with the broader goal of increasing urban green cover.
This initiative is a step toward mobilizing citizens, especially youth, in supporting AMC’s vision of planting four million trees, ensuring a healthier and more climate-resilient city.
