Rashtriya Raksha University Celebrates Gujarat Foundation Day with Cultural and Historical Reflections

The Directorate of Extension and Distance Learning (EDLD), in collaboration with the School of Internal Security and SMART Policing (SISSP), Rashtriya Raksha University (RRU), successfully organized the Foundation Day Celebration of Gujarat at RRU Campus, Lavad, Dehgam, Gandhinagar.

The event commemorated the formation of the state of Gujarat and highlighted its rich cultural heritage and historical journey. The celebration was graced by Prof. (Dr.) Kalpesh H Wandra, Hon'ble Pro Vice-Chancellor of RRU, as the Chief Guest, and Dr. Rizwan Kadri, Young historian and member of the Prime Minister's Museum and Library Society, New Delhi, as the Keynote Speaker.

The program began with a warm welcome of the dignitaries, followed by a felicitation ceremony, and the playing of the iconic song "Jai Jai Garvi Gujarat" to mark the occasion. In her welcome address, Prof. (Dr.) Priyanka Sharma, Dean, EDLD, set the tone for the event by emphasizing the significance of Gujarat’s foundation in shaping the region’s socio-cultural identity.

Dr. Rizwan Kadri captivated the audience with his insightful discourse on the historical evolution of Mahatma Gandhi and Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel as national leaders. He highlighted the critical role of the Gujarati language in shaping their mass appeal and leadership. Dr. Kadri also shed light on the role of the police during various movements led by these leaders, elaborating on how security arrangements were tactfully managed to mitigate unforeseen challenges. Emphasizing Gujarat’s rich heritage and cultural significance, his thought-provoking address offered valuable reflections on the state's enduring legacy and contributions. He concluded with a compelling note: "History of Gujarat and its Police — Foundations of the State’s Progress."
Certificates were distributed to the participants of the Gujarat Cultural Elocution Competition 2025, encouraging continued student engagement in such cultural initiatives. The gratitude note was conveyed by Director, SISSP, Mr. Bhawanisinh Rathore.
The celebration witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, faculty members, and members of the public. It served as a meaningful tribute to Gujarat's rich heritage and a reaffirmation of the values and vision that continue to shape the state's identity.
