BIS Organised a Two day Training Programme for BIS Empanelled Resource Personnel on Transaction of Lesson Plans Under “Learning Science via Standards” in Chennai Today

Bureau of Indian Standards, the National Standards Body of India is a statutory body functioning under the aegis of Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, Government of India. It operates various schemes like Product Certification (ISI mark), Management Systems Certification, Hall Marking of Gold and Silver Jewellery/Artefacts and Laboratory Services for the benefit of the industry and in turn aiming at consumer protection.

BIS Southern Regional Office is organising a Two day Residential Training Programme for BIS Empanelled Resource Personnel on Transaction of Lesson plans under learning Science via Standards in Chennai during 13 & 14 May 2025.
The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) had already launched ‘Learning Science via Standards’, a unique initiative for students for learning science via standards. The ‘Learning Science via Standards’ initiative focuses on a series of lesson plans aimed to use scientific concepts, principles and laws to help students understand their practical applications in manufacturing, functioning and testing of quality characteristics of different products as stated in the relevant Indian Standards. The subjects for the lesson plans are largely related to products used in day-to-day life and have been chosen based on their relevance to education as part of the course curriculum as well as to industrial applications.

The lesson plans would also serve as a means for the students of schools and colleges to appreciate the significance of quality and standards and empower them to boldly face the real life situations in any of their future endeavours.
Resource Persons under various Branch Offices of BIS for standards promotion who possess in-depth knowledge, strong communication skills, and a proven track record in training or capacity building were identified and BIS officials and resource personnel will transact the lesson plans to the students for an interactive learning experience.
For achieving the above , this two day residential training programmes with around 100 Resource Persons from 8 Branch Offices from BIS Southern Region will be trained on lesson plans on Pasteurized Milk, Domestic Gas Stove, Helmet, Football, Pressure Cooker, Tyre, Geo Textiles and Milk Powder developed under the Learning Science Via Standards initiative. These eight lesson plans will be discussed in detail including various activities, Quiz for the Resource persons.
Earlier, Smt.G.Bhavani, Sc-F & Head Chennai Branch Office welcomed the participants and explained the Programme Objectives and Shri Arun Puchakayala,Sc-D explained the Concepts and Methodology of Use.
