Bharat Scouts and Guides inducts members of Bhutan Scouts Association in New Delhi

The Bharat Scouts and Guides organized an Induction Programme on 28th May 2025 at 3:00 PM at the National Headquarters, New Delhi with a 24 member delegation of Bhutan Scout Association, who are currently in India as part of their Educational Programme.
The team visited the Bharat Scouts and Guides accompanied by Lieutenant Yashodhara Raj, Associate Professor, Associate NCC Officer, and Assistant Director, Industry Integration & Knowledge Exchange Cell at Sharda University, who is mentoring the Bhutanese participants in their Education Programme.

The delegation received a warm welcome at NHQ. The programme commenced with the General Salute and BSG Prayer, followed by the Bhutan Scouts’ prayer. Shri Amar B. Chettri, Executive Director, delivered the welcome address, introduced the NHQ staff, and invited the members of the Bhutan Scouts Association to introduce themselves. Ms. Darshana Pawaskar, Director, BSG, presented the BSG Scarf to Lt. Yashodhara Raj, followed by other delegation.

Shri Arup Sarkar, Deputy Director of Scouts (Boy Programme), provided a brief introduction to the Bharat Scouts and Guides. The starting of Scout Movement in India in 1909, the merger as ‘The Bharat Scouts and Guides’, various prestigious awards to BSG from Govt of India. During the self introduction, the team of Bhutan Scout expressed their gratitude and emphasized the enduring friendship between the two nations’ scout movements. Shri Prassanna Shrivastava, Special Director, SOCNC and Director, Organizational Development, APR WSB, appreciated the Bhutan Scouts for their commitment and dedication to the Scout Movement. He noted that Scouting is a sign of good citizenship and recalled the early days of Scouting in Bhutan between 1994 and 1999. The Bhutanese members expressed their joy at having attended Leader Trainers’ Courses in Pachmarhi, Madhya Pradesh, and other events across India.

The delegation toured the National Headquarters, explored various departments, and visited the Equipment Shop, where they purchased souvenirs including literature, uniforms, and gift materials. They also enjoyed a video presentation featuring the Trichy, Tamil Nadu Jamboree. The event concluded with an exchange of mementos, where Ms. Darshana Pawaskar presented the official BSG Memento to the Bhutan Scouts Association and Sharda University, and in return, the Bhutan Scouts presented their memento to BSG.

In her closing remarks, Ms. Darshana Pawaskar, Director, BSG expressed her hope that the bond of friendship, neighborly ties, and Scouting/Guiding between India and Bhutan will continue to grow stronger. She assured full support for Bhutan’s participation in future events and co nfirmed that the Bhutan Scouts Association will be provided with an increased quota for the upcoming Jamborees. With vote of thanks and group photo, the event was closed.
