Vietnam Welcomes Over 17.8 Million Devotees in Historic Nationwide Veneration of Buddha’s Sacred Relics from India

An extraordinary spiritual movement swept across Vietnam as millions of devotees participated in a historic veneration pilgrimage of the Buddha’s sacred relics from India. The sacred tour, spanning multiple revered locations from the south to the north of the country, drew more than 17.8 million devotees in total, uniting Buddhists and spiritual seekers in a profound display of reverence and cultural solidarity.

Key highlights of the sacred relic tour include:

  • Thanh Tâm Monastery, Ho Chi Minh City (May 3–8): 1,877,000 devotees
  • Ba Den Mountain, Tay Ninh Province (May 8–12): 127,000 devotees
  • Quan Su Pagoda, Hanoi (May 13–17): Over 7 million devotees, including 2 million at the central relic procession
  • Tam Chuc Pagoda, Ha Nam Province (May 17–19): Over 2 million devotees
  • Bai Dinh Pagoda, Ninh Binh Province (May 19–21): Approx. 350,000 devotees
  • Phuc Son Pagoda, Bac Giang Province (May 21–25): Approx. 1.6 million devotees
  • Truc Lam Yen Tu Monastery, Quang Ninh (May 25–28): Approx. 1.05 million devotees
  • Chuong Pagoda, Hung Yen (May 8–30): Approx. 2.5 million devotees
  • Quan Am Ngu Hanh Son Pagoda, Da Nang City: Approx. 1.3 million devotees (as of June 1)

The veneration not only affirmed Vietnam’s deep-rooted Buddhist heritage but also became a vibrant expression of national unity and peace. Ceremonies included relic processions, meditative gatherings, chanting, and educational sessions, fostering spiritual mindfulness among attendees of all ages.
