In observance of World Food Safety Day 2025, the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) is organizing an event on 07 June 2025 at NIMHANS, Bengaluru, centered on “Stop Obesity by Eating Safe and Healthy.” This aligns with Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s clarion call to address the growing burden of obesity and non-communicable diseases through preventive strategies rooted in traditional, safe, and wholesome dietary practices.

The programme will be graced by Hon’ble Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare, Shri Jagat Prakash Nadda, who will deliver the keynote address and unveil key initiatives.

The occasion will mark the launch of a national awareness initiative to combat obesity, alongside the release of the ‘Eat Right Activity Book – Your Guide to Eat Right at School’, a key resource under the Eat Right School program. This book supports early education on safe and healthy food choices, targeting school children as agents of change.

Senior officials from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Ministry of Education, and FSSAI will also participate and share perspectives. The event will be attended online by key stakeholders including Health Secretaries and Food Safety Commissioners of all States/UTs, members of FSSAI’s Scientific Committee and Panels, Food Business Operators, industry associations, development partners and FSSAI employees nationwide.

Through this observance, FSSAI seeks to reinforce its commitment to ensuring safer food and healthier lives for all citizens, while building momentum for a nationwide movement against obesity.
