CTCRI to Host Sree Visakham Thirunal Endowment Lecture on 23 June 2025

In honour of the pivotal role played by Sree Visakham Thirunal in popularising the cultivation of cassava in Kerala, the Indian Society for Root Crops (ISRC), in association with the ICAR–Central Tuber Crops Research Institute (CTCRI), Thiruvananthapuram, annually organises the Sree Visakham Thirunal Endowment Lecture. This prestigious event brings together eminent scientists and technocrats in the fields of agricultural and biological sciences to deliberate on topics of contemporary significance. The 2025 edition of the endowment lecture will be held on 23 June 2025 at 10:00 AM at Millennium Hall, CTCRI, Sreekariyam.
This year’s lecture will be delivered by Dr. Viswanathan Chinnusamy, Joint Director (Research), ICAR–Indian Agricultural Research Institute, New Delhi, on the topic: “Genome Revolution: India’s Trailblazing Path to the First Edited Rice Variety.” Dr. V. Arunachalam, Director, KSCSTE–Jawaharlal Nehru Tropical Botanic Garden and Research Institute (JNTBGRI), Thiruvananthapuram, will grace the occasion as the Guest of Honour, while Dr. G. Byju, President, ISRC and Director, CTCRI, will preside over the function.
The welcome address will be delivered by Dr. T. Makeshkumar, Secretary, Indian Society for Root Crops, and the vote of thanks will be proposed by Dr. H. Kesava Kumar, Joint Secretary, Indian Society for Root Crops.
