Pune, 21 June 2025
Southern Command celebrated the 11th International Day of Yoga (IDY) with great zeal and enthusiasm at Pune on 21 June 2025. The event witnessed exuberant participation of all ranks, veterans, families & children - all coming together in alignment with this year’s global theme, “Yoga for One Earth, One Health,” to instill discipline, physical fitness and mental resilience.

Lieutenant General Dhiraj Seth, PVSM, AVSM, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Southern Command, led the celebration. Yoga sessions were also conducted at all stations of Southern Command promoting holistic well being.
During the session, the role of Yoga in enhancing physical fitness, emotional balance, and mental robustness in challenging environments was prominently highlighted. The event underscored the Indian Army’s commitment to holistic well-being and operational readiness.
In collaboration with Isha Foundation, the session was conducted by four trained Hatha Yoga teachers from the Sadhguru Hatha Yoga Gurukulam, with support from twenty committed Isha volunteers based in Pune. Participants engaged in a series of structured yogic practices, including Yoga Namaskar for spinal strength, Nadi Shuddhi for cleansing energy pathways, and the 7-minute Miracle of Mind meditation — all designed to enhance vitality, mental clarity, and emotional stability.

The celebration served as a reaffirmation of the Indian Army’s dedication to nurturing the overall wellbeing of its personnel while embracing our timeless yogic traditions.
