Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh inaugurates AIC–NIFIE Incubation Centre at IIM Mumbai

Mumbai, 24th June 2025

Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Science & Technology, Earth Sciences, Dr. Jitendra Singh inaugurated AIC-NITIE Incubation Foundation for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (AIC–NIFIE) at the Indian Institute of Management Mumbai (IIM Mumbai) today, 24th June 2025, marking a major step in advancing India’s startup and innovation ecosystem under the national mission of Atmanirbhar Bharat.

The inauguration was part of Dr. Singh’s visit to the institute, where he also addressed a distinguished audience during IIM Mumbai’s Leadership Series on the theme: “Viksit Bharat: India’s Startup Strides over the Last Decade and the Way Forward.”

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Singh emphasized the role of premier academic institutions in bridging policy, research, and enterprise. “Innovation is the backbone of a developed India. Centres like AIC–NIFIE will be instrumental in translating India’s demographic dividend into tangible economic growth,” he stated.

Director of IIM Mumbai, Prof. Manoj K. Tiwari, said, “The launch of AIC–NIFIE is a step towards building a dynamic innovation ecosystem within the institute. It aligns with our mission to create impact through thought leadership, research, and entrepreneurship.”

The centre, launched under the aegis of the Atal Innovation Mission, is designed to provide holistic support to early-stage startups and innovators through incubation, mentorship, industry linkages, and access to research and technology. It will focus on sectors critical to India’s future, including manufacturing, supply chain, sustainability, and digital transformation.

With this initiative, IIM Mumbai deepens its commitment to national development through support for the startup ecosystem, industry-driven research, and knowledge creation. The institute has already facilitated the launch of 14 startups and continues to be an active contributor to India’s innovation-led growth story.
