Rashtriya Raksha University and Nagaland Police Forge Partnership for SMART Policing

Rashtriya Raksha University (RRU) and Nagaland Police have entered into a landmark agreement, solidifying their commitment to fostering SMART policing through advanced training, research, and innovation. The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed this week, marking a significant step towards building a safer and smarter Northeast Region.

The online signing ceremony was graced by key officials from both institutions. Representing RRU were Prof. (Dr.) Bimal N. Patel, VC; Prof. (Dr.) Kalpesh H. Wandra, Pro-VC; Dr. Dharmeshkumar D. Prajapati, Registrar; Dr. Jasbirkaur Thadhani, University Dean; and Mr. Bhawani Sinh Rathore, Director I/c, SISSP. Nagaland Police was represented by Shri Rupin Sharma, IPS, DGP; Shri Sandeep Tamgadge, IPS, ADG (Law & Order); Shri R. Kikon, IPS, ADG (Adm); and Shri R. Tetseo, IPS, IG (TRAINING).

The agreement outlines a comprehensive framework for collaboration, including the development of tech-driven solutions, academic partnerships, and projects specifically tailored to the needs of the Northeast region. RRU will provide specialized, state-specific training programs designed to equip Nagaland Police officers with the skills and knowledge necessary to address contemporary challenges in law enforcement. These training initiatives and related activities will be conducted under the auspices of government-run schemes, ensuring alignment with national priorities and resource allocation.
The partnership between RRU and Nagaland Police represents a significant step towards modernizing law enforcement practices and promoting a safer, smarter Northeast region. The collaboration will focus on the following key areas:
Advanced Training: RRU will deliver specialized training programs tailored to the specific needs of the Nagaland Police, covering areas such as crime investigation, cybersecurity, and community policing.
Research and Innovation: Joint research projects will be undertaken to identify and implement innovative solutions to address emerging challenges in law enforcement.
Technology Integration: The partnership will promote the adoption of technology-driven solutions to enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness.
Northeast-Focused Projects: Specific projects will be developed to address the unique security challenges and priorities of the Northeast region.
All required trainings and allied activities will be done under the government-run scheme.
Prof. (Dr.) Bimal N. Patel, the Vice-Chancellor of Rashtriya Raksha University (RRU) highlighted the university's commitment to providing state-specific training programs and hands-on training. RRU also encouraged the Nagaland Police to nominate IT-focused officers for research opportunities at RRU, with the goal of developing IT solutions and applications, offering full support for these initiatives. He further expressed his satisfaction with the agreement, stating that it will play a crucial role in strengthening the talents and experience of Nagaland Police officials. He emphasized that the collaboration will equip officers to become SMART police in all aspects, including IT, forensics, law, languages, and other relevant areas, considering the unique challenges faced in the region.
Whereas, Shri Rupin Sharma, IPS, Director General of Police (DGP), Nagaland Police, welcomed the partnership, stating the MoU would provide invaluable support, enabling police officials to become SMART officers. He emphasized the collaboration's importance in enhancing the Nagaland Police Force's capabilities.
