Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Shri Piyush Goyal participated in IIT Madars’s SANGAM 2025 Global Inovation and Alumni summit held at Bengaluru today. He addressed the gathering and highlighted the policy vision and commitments of union government led by PM Shri Narendra Modi.

Speaking at the event, Shri Piyush Goyal emphasised that ,the vision is to make India a developed nation by 2047, building upon five key commitments. These commitments include a resolve of developed India, shedding the colonial mind-set, valuing history and culture, ensuring unity and integrity, and fostering collective involvement.

Highlighting the progressive programs of the government, the Minister said, India was among the weakest economies a decade before. PM Modi through the period of last 11 years has initiated several programs to overcome various barriers to transform India. Programs such as Make in India, promoting Vocal for Local and now Local going Global, Start Up India, Digital India, Swachh Bharat Mission, Jal Jeevan Mission and many more are like beads of a necklace. If one bead is missing, the necklace won’t look so beautiful, won’t serve the purpose for which we wear. We made efforts to take each of these programs to the people at the bottom of the pyramid.

Sustainability, fight against climate change, giving opportunity to everyone to lead a better quality of life...we put all of these policies together today to define India’s growth. From 11th largest Economy in the world, today we are 5th largest in 2025 and we may be 4th largest by the end of the year and 3rd by 2027. Highlighting the government’s commitment to fostering innovation, Shri Goyal pointed out that 10,000 crore rupees were allocated in the previous budget to develop the deep tech ecosystem. An additional 10,000 crore rupees have now been sanctioned to further support innovation and emerging technologies.

He also noted that the last Union Cabinet Meeting approved 1 lakh crore rupees for the Department of Science and Technology. This will be offered as a zero-interest loan over 50 years to drive technological innovation. The aspiration and desires of young generation in India compared to rest of the world, today drives innovation, research and development, start-up eco system, technology that collectively make India ready for upcoming challenges. India is at forefront in the fields of  AI, machine learning, data analytics.

Highlighting the work during Covid pandemic, the Minister said, India sees every crisis as an opportunity. During Covid pandemic crisis, India had limited stock of PPE kits. Under the guidance of PM Modi, organizations like  DRDO, ISRO and all the industries worked together to overcome the hurdle. Within short span of time India became second largest producer of PPE kits and even supplied to other countries. The vaccines were also supplied free of cost to 100 less developed countries. For this, even today people around the world thank us.

Speaking further, during 1965 former PM Lal Bahadur Shasrti coined the slogan ‘Jai Jawan, Jai Kissan’. In 1999 former PM Atal Bihari Vajapeyi added ‘Jai Vigyan’ and in 2019 PM Modi further added ‘Jai Anusandhan’. These innovations define glory of India. Let’s serve motherland in Amrit Kal, let’s make Aatmanirbhar Bharat to make India Global Super Power.
