The Department of Official Language, Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, continued its Golden Jubilee celebrations, marking 50 years since its establishment on June 26, 1975, with "Dakshin Samvad" held today, 11 July 2025. After the grand inaugural event in New Delhi the regional dialogue took place at the GMC Balayogi Indoor Stadium in Gachibowli, Hyderabad, bringing together stakeholders from across the southern states.
During the "Dakshin Samvad" event special calendar meticulously prepared by the Official Language Section of the Central University of Tamil Nadu (CUTN) was unveiled by the Union of Coal & Mines Shri G Kishan Reddy. This unique calendar features the revered Thirukkural couplets in Tamil, accompanied by their meanings translated into both Hindi and English.
The primary objective behind the creation of this special calendar is to disseminate the profound wisdom of 'Thirukkural,' the timeless couplets penned by the world-renowned Tamil poet Thiruvalluvar, to a wider populace across India. The enduring influence and relevance of 'Thirukkural' have been highlighted on multiple occasions by the Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi, including in his 'Mann Ki Baat' addresses and various other public platforms.
The calendar was jointly unveiled by the Union Minister of Coal and Mines, Shri G. Kishan Reddy; Shri Harivansh, Deputy Chairman of the Rajya Sabha; and Shri Pawan Kalyan, Deputy Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh. Professor R. Thirumurugan, Registrar of the Central University of Tamil Nadu, was also present during this significant moment.

Under the guidance of Professor M. Krishnan, Vice Chancellor of the Central University of Tamil Nadu, the calendar's creation was a collaborative effort by CUTN's official language officials, Ms. Sabitha Rani, Ms. Deepika, and Mr. Karthikeyan.
