As per the Ministry of Education Order dated 15^th July 2025, The National Institute of Technology Puducherry, is pleased to share the appointment of its Chairperson, Board of Governors; Padma Shri Dr. Kota Harinarayana, serving as the current Chairperson, Board of Governors, IIT(BHU) Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, and entrusted with the additional charge as the Chairperson of the Board of Governors, NIT Puducherry.

 

Dr. Harinarayana has served the nation and contributed to nation-building in numerous roles and responsibilities. He formerly served as the Chairperson of the Aeronautical Society of India and contributed significantly to the advancement of India's aeronautical research and development, and is commended for his pivotal role as the Program Director and Chief Engineer of India's Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) Tejas, under the Aeronautical Development Agency.

 

To his credit, Dr. Harinarayana has also formerly served as the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Hyderabad, Chairman of Research Councils of CSIO, Chandigarh; Director, MIDHANI; Distinguished Visiting Professor at IIT Bombay, Dr. D S Kothari, DRDO Chair at ADA, Bangalore; Chairman, Board of Governors of IIITDM, Jabalpur; and INAE Satish Dhawan Chair Professor at CSIR-NAL, etc., and was also conferred with one of the most prestigious civilian awards, the Padma Shri in 2002.

 

Being a gifted technocrat, a farsighted leader, and a dedicated nation builder, Dr. Harinarayana has created a unique space for himself through excellence in Education and Technology.
