Minority Affairs Ministry organised Lok Samvardhan Parv at Srinagar to promote the traditions of minority communities and their innovative and entrepreneurial environment

The Ministry of Minority Affairs organised ‘Lok Samvardhan Parv’ under the PM VIKAS Scheme at Convocation Ground, Kashmir University, Srinagar, Jammu & Kashmir from 5th April to 13th April, 2025. The ‘Parv’ provided artisans with a unique opportunity to showcase their indigenous arts, crafts, and rich cultural heritage. The event was designed not only to promote the traditions of minority communities but also to foster an innovative and entrepreneurial environment for artisans. To enhance their skills in areas like marketing, export & online business, design and sales etc., workshops are conducted by the Ministry, with support from the Export Promotion Council for Handicrafts (EPCH), ensuring a holistic approach to empowering their talent.

The ‘Parv’ featured over 100 artisans from 25 States and Union Territories, presenting a diverse array of handicrafts and indigenous products including Paper Mâché, Sozni embroidery, Crewel Art, Pashmina Shawls, Willow work, Wood Carving, Crochet, Kantha work, Sikkim traditional crafts, Punjabi Jutti, Ladakhi Pashmina and more. Additionally, 16 culinary experts from 12 States/UTs showcased regional delicacies like Kashmiri Wazwan along with cuisines from various states/UTs like Gujarat, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh and Ladakh.

This information was given by Union Minister of Minority Affairs and Parliamentary Affairs Shri Kiren Rijiju in a written reply in the Rajya Sabha today.
