Over 41 Crore Ayushman Cards created under AB-PMJAY


31,466 hospitals empaneled under the scheme across the country

More than 9.84 crore hospital admissions worth over Rs. 1.40 lakh crore authorized under the scheme

Over 41 Crore Ayushman Cards have been created in the country under Ayushman Bharat - Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY).

In January 2022, Government of India revised the beneficiary base of the scheme from 10.74 crore to 12 crore families, covering the bottom 40% of India’s population. Further, in March 2024, the eligibility criteria were expanded to include 37 lakh Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHAs), Anganwadi Workers (AWWs), Anganwadi Helpers (AWHs), and their families. Recently, the scheme has been further extended to cover 6 crore senior citizens aged 70 years and above, representing 4.5 crore families, through Vay Vandana Card, irrespective of their socio-economic status.

The details of total number of Ayushman cards created with respect to members of ASHA, AWW and AWH families are as below:

ASHA             10.45 lakhs

AWW              15.01 lakhs

AWH              15.05 lakhs

A total of 31,466 hospitals has been empaneled under the scheme across the country, out of which 14,194 are private hospitals.

More than 9.84 crore hospital admissions worth over Rs. 1.40 lakh crore have been authorized under the scheme.

The Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare, Shri Prataprao Jadhav stated this in a written reply in the Lok Sabha today.
