Railway Minister Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw has informed that Train Nos. 16325/16326 Nilambur–Kottayam Express has been augmented from 12 coaches to 14 coaches by attaching one General class coach and one Chair Car with effect from May 21, 2025.

In a statement laid in the Lok Sabha in response to a starred question by MP Shri E T Mohammed Basheer, the Minister stated that the augmentation was based on the recommendation by the Trivandrum and Palakkad Divisions, as per the inspection by Southern Railway.

The Minister also stated that augmentation of train services is an ongoing process on Indian Railways, subject to traffic justification, operational feasibility and availability of resources.
