As part of a nationwide campaign by the Department of Financial Services to enhance the comprehensiveness of financial inclusion schemes at the gram panchayat and urban local body levels, the Panchayat-level Jana Suraksha Campaign has been progressing successfully in Malappuram district. So far, the campaign has been successfully conducted in 31 panchayats across the district. This week, programs were held in Koottilangadi, Edayoor, Alipparamba, Peruvallur, and Nirmaruthur.
The campaign's agenda is multi-faceted and aims to address various aspects of financial literacy and inclusion. The key components of the program include:
Financial Awareness Programs: These sessions are conducted to educate the public on a range of financial topics, helping them make informed decisions.
Janasuraksha Product Saturation: A major focus is on ensuring the saturation of government-sponsored social security schemes, known as Janasuraksha products (Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana, and Atal Pension Yojana).
Financial Inclusion: The campaign is actively working to bring more people into the formal banking system. This includes facilitating the opening of new bank accounts under the Pradhan Mantri Jan-Dhan Yojana (PMJDY) and assisting with the updation of existing accounts through Re-KYC processes.
This ongoing campaign is a significant step toward creating a financially empowered and inclusive society in Malappuram district.
