National Institute of Fashion Technology, Gandhinagar successfully organized the Orientation Programme 2025 for the incoming batch of 2025 from 30th July to 1st August 2025. The three-day event was thoughtfully designed to welcome the new students and familiarize them with the vibrant campus life, academic ecosystem, and creative culture that define NIFT Gandhinagar.
The event was formally inaugurated by an esteemed panel of dignitaries, including Prof. Dr. Sameer Sood, Director, NIFT Gandhinagar; Mr. Rinish Shekhani, Director, Mangal Textiles; Mr. Deep Kumar Varma, Director, PayPal; and Dr. P.K. Rajput, a renowned motivational speaker, author, and leadership coach. These distinguished guests also delivered keynote addresses, offering the students valuable insights drawn from their extensive experience across diverse fields. Their motivational speeches touched upon key aspects of academic excellence, professional growth, leadership, and personal development. Emphasizing real-life experiences and industry insights, the speakers shared inspiring success mantras, encouraging students to adopt a forward-thinking mindset, stay resilient, and remain consistent in their pursuits.

Welcoming the freshers, Prof. Dr. Sameer Sood shared a compelling vision of future opportunities for students, especially in emerging areas such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), software development, UI/UX design, and sustainable fashion. He emphasized the relevance of sustainability, linking it to ancient civilization practices, and highlighted career prospects in luxury goods and digital fashion. Referring to India’s booming wedding industry—with a market value of ₹10 lakh crores and over 1 crore marriages annually—he spotlighted new avenues for fashion designers beyond conventional roles. He urged students to build strong habits, avoid procrastination, and remain consistent, invoking Swami Vivekananda’s timeless message: “Arise, awake, and stop not till the goal is reached.
A series of guest speaker sessions added great value to the programme. Notable speakers included Mr. Dhwant Thaker, acclaimed Gujarati actor and singer, and Dr. Shyanad Munshi, a renowned plastic surgeon and poet, who shared their inspiring journeys and life lessons. The day also featured a special workshop on Gender Equality and Anti-Ragging, led by Ms. Amita Buch, a seasoned trainer and lecturer, emphasizing the importance of inclusive, safe, and respectful campus culture.

Students actively participated in a variety of engagement activities designed to help them acclimate to the campus environment. Guided department visits offered first-hand exposure to the institute’s academic and technical facilities, led by faculty and support staff. Creative workshops, such as portrait and poster making, were held at the Student Activity Centre and Accessory Design Studios, promoting hands-on learning and teamwork. Additionally, a hands-on session on NIFT’s Campus Management System (CMS) equipped students with the skills to navigate the institute’s digital academic platform effectively.
The programme also featured comprehensive academic and administrative briefings conducted by faculty members, covering essential topics such as industry linkages, placement opportunities, international collaborations, and bank loan guidance. Students were introduced to a wide range of support services available through the Resource Centre and the Student Development and Activity Cell (SDAC), which oversees clubs, scholarships, and counselling initiatives aimed at fostering holistic student development.

A series of insightful presentations further enriched the orientation, focusing on Campus Academic Activities, the Craft Cluster Initiative, Anti-Ragging Policies, and contributions from the Regional Industry Coordination Unit. These sessions provided a well-rounded understanding of the academic infrastructure and institutional support available to guide students throughout their journey at NIFT Gandhinagar.

The Orientation Programme 2025 was executed under the able leadership of Dr. Vishal Gupta, Associate Professor & CAC (Campus Activity Coordinator), supported by a dedicated team of faculty and staff. The Orientation Programme 2025 created a dynamic platform for students to integrate into the NIFT community, offering an engaging start to their academic journey. The event not only welcomed the fresh batch but also instilled a sense of purpose, readiness, and excitement for the creative challenges and opportunities that lie ahead at NIFT Gandhinagar.
