The National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) Daman campus successfully organized a 3-day orientation program for newly admitted batch students of Textile Design and Fashion Management from July 30th, 2025, to August 1st, 2025.

The program was inaugurated with a traditional Indian ceremony, complete with a bindi on the students' foreheads and soothing classical music. The Director of Higher and Technical Education of Dadra Nagar Haveli Daman and Diu was the chief guest, and NIFT Director Dr. Brijesh Deore presided over the function. During the inauguration, Dr. Deore emphasized the importance of preserving India's rich cultural heritage through traditional crafts like Kolhapuri Chappals. He emphasized the importance of combining traditional techniques with modern design principles to create innovative and sustainable fashion products.

The first day featured a special session, "Meet the Industrialist," where five top-level leaders from the textile industry interacted with students. This session provided valuable insights into the industry and its current trends.

The second day showcased India's rich cultural heritage through traditional footwear, specifically Kolhapuri Chappals. The event brought artisans and students together to showcase a vibrant fashion walk featuring a diverse range of Kolhapuri chappals on the ramp. A workshop provided students with hands-on experience in crafting Kolhapuri footwear, while a dedicated, customized Kolhapuri manufacturing stall attracted many visitors.

The third day concluded with an industry visit facilitated by Supersox brand. The students received a 45-minute briefing by the plant and marketing team, followed by a comprehensive industry visit.

The orientation program was a grand success, providing students with a unique opportunity to learn from industry experts, artisans, and hands-on experiences. The event highlighted the significance of Kolhapuri Chappals, a traditional Indian footwear that has been passed down through generations, and showcased its beauty, versatility, and style.
