Saturation of Financial Inclusion Campaign sees a Significant Response in Karnataka with 2,824 Camps held in the State so far

The Saturation of Financial Inclusion campaign has received a significant response in Karnataka. The nationwide campaign, organized by the Department of Financial Services, under the Ministry of Finance, is being conducted at all the Gram Panchayats and Urban Local Bodies’ levels. Launched on July 1, 2025, the campaign will continue up to September 30, 2025.

During the campaign, activities such as opening of bank accounts under Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY) for unbanked adults; re-KYC for all savings bank account holders covered under PMJDY; enrolment of eligible population under the two insurance schemes - Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY), Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY), and a pension scheme - Atal Pension Yojana (APY), are being conducted. Additionally, the campaign conducts awareness programmes on preventing digital fraud, sensitizing people about the access to unclaimed deposits and grievance redressal mechanisms. These camps are also providing facilities to update nomination details for bank accounts, insurances and pension accounts.

The campaign is being successfully conducted across all districts of Karnataka, with 2,824 camps organized so far in the state. The camps are being organized by the banks in collaboration with Gram Panchayats and Urban Local Bodies. Under the ongoing campaign, a total number of 31,835 Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan bank accounts have been opened so far in Karnataka. Additionally, a total of 68,820 people have enrolled for the Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana, 91,922 in the Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana and 24,220 for the Atal Pension Yojana in the state. The Financial Inclusion Saturation campaign has received excellent response from the beneficiaries and the rural communities across the state.

The campaign, organised under the aegis of the Ministry of Finance, Government of India, has created a conducive environment to make banking services accessible to all. The campaign aims to empower the weaker sections of society by bringing them into the mainstream banking system.

This campaign is bringing the masses under the ambit of social security schemes, including insurance and pension. Priority has been given to conduct the campaign in backward regions and districts inhabited by tribal communities.
