In order to incentivize setting up/expansion of Food Processing infrastructure, Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI) is implementing two Central Sector Schemes namely Pradhan Mantri Kisan SAMPADA Yojana (PMKSY) and Production Linked Incentive Scheme for Food Processing Industry (PLISFPI). Further, a Centrally sponsored scheme namely PM Formalization of Micro Food Processing Enterprises (PMFME) scheme is also being implemented by MoFPI.
These schemes are not region specific or state specific but demand driven and financial assistance is provided to the eligible applicants and is implemented across the country. The total funds released under these schemes since 2022-23 is as under-

Project Execution Agency (PEA) / Implementing agencies /organizations such as Govt. / PSUs / Joint Ventures / NGOs / Cooperatives / Self Help Groups (SHGs) / Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) / Farmer Producer Companies (FPCs) / Private Sector companies/ Partnership firm / Proprietorship firms/individuals etc. are eligible for availing grants under schemes of MoFPI.
MoFPI schemes are demand driven but most of the projects approved under the schemes are in rural areas, thereby supporting the local farmers. To ensure equal opportunities across rural entrepreneurs, scheme awareness activities through national and state level awareness campaigns such as newspaper advertisement, radio jingles, exhibitions and expos, millet fairs, buyer-seller meets, district and block level workshops etc. are conducted with the aim to enhance the awareness of general public and for their participation for availing benefits under the schemes of MoFPI.
