ADEQUACY OF EV CHARGING STATIONS

As per information received from Ministry of Power (MoP), a total of 29,277 nos. of Public EV Charging Stations (EVCS) have been installed in the country. Year-wise details of charging station installed since 2022 is enclosed at Annexure А. Further, an allocation of Rs. 2,000 crore has been made under the PM E-DRIVE Scheme for installation of adequate EV charging stations, towards future requirement, on pan India basis.
As per information received from MoP, 2,326 nos. of Public EVCS have been installed in Uttar Pradesh, as on 01.08.2025. District-wise break up of Public EV Charging Stations installed in state of Uttar Pradesh is enclosed at Annexure B.
Ministry of Power has issued "Guidelines for Installation and Operation of Electric Vehicle Charging Infrastructure-2024", which outline standards and protocols to create connected and interoperable EV charging infrastructure network which includes Battery Swapping/Charging stations.
Setting up of EVCS is a unlicensed activity and any entity can setup EVCS across the country.
An allocation of Rs. 2,000 crore has been made under the PM E-DRIVE Scheme for installation of public EVCS on pan-India basis.
