Financial Inclusion Saturation and re-KYC Camp held at Mohanpur Gram Panchayat, Barrackpore-II Block, 24 North Parganas.

Banks across West Bengal are holding Financial Inclusion (FI) Saturation Camps from July 1 to September 30, 2025 in 3,339 Gram Panchayats to facilitate re-KYC, enrolments in various FI Schemes, awareness on unclaimed deposits and grievance redressal mechanisms. As a part of the above initiative, Indian Bank organized a camp at Mohanpur Gram Panchayat, Barrackpore-II Block, North 24 Parganas on August 14, 2025, which was among others attended by Shri Indranil Bhattacharyya, Executive Director, RBI; Shri Sudhanshu Prasad, Regional Director, RBI; Ms. Rashmi Rani, General Manager, RBI; Shri Rajesh Kumar Singh, General Manager, Indian Bank; Shri Balbir Singh General Manager, SLBC Convenor, West Bengal; the public representative of Mohanpur Gram Panchayat and Zonal / Regional Heads of other banks present in the area.
On this occasion, Shri Indranil Bhattacharyya, Executive Director, RBI highlighted the critical importance of keeping bank account active through timely re-KYC to avoid delays in receiving grants or subsidies from the Central and State Governments. He reminded that banks must update KYC records every two years for High-risk, eight years for Medium-risk, and 10 years for Low-risk customers, by accepting documents such as passport, driving licence, Aadhaar card, or Voter ID, etc. He also apprised the participants about the unclaimed deposits funds lying idle for more than 10 years and encouraged them to use the RBI’s UDGAM portal to locate such deposits across various banks, and the process for reclaiming such deposits from the banks. Further, he explained about the RBI Integrated Ombudsman Scheme, guiding participants on lodging complaints free of cost through CMS portal or Toll-Free number 14448.
At the event, Shri Sudhanshu Prasad, Regional Director, RBI Kolkata highlighted the importance of completing re-KYC in time so as to avail all types of banking services without any hassles. He also mentioned about the requirements of submitting a self-declaration form in case there is no change in KYC information or even if there is change in address. Further, he made the public aware about the safe use of digital payment platforms like UPI, IMPS, and NEFT and the safety and security measures implemented by banks. He urged the participants not to share any confidential information relating to banking transactions such as Account Number, Credit/Debit Card Number, OTP, PIN, Password, etc. Further, he encouraged the participants to use the camp as an opportunity to ask questions/queries and seek immediate resolution. He also informed that financial frauds should be reported immediately by calling the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal’s Toll-Free number 1930.
Several bank counters were set up at the venue to assist with re-KYC and other financial inclusion activities. In this camp at Mohanpur Gram Panchayat 2,929 customers successfully completed their re-KYC
During the camp, both the RBI’s Executive Director and Regional Director visited the stall set up by the banks. The Regional Director urged the bankers to maximize the re-KYC completion at the camps and interacted with the attendees. All the participating banks jointly reaffirmed their commitment to complete the re-KYC process by September 30, 2025, in line with the extant RBI Guidelines. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Shri U.C. Patra, Zonal Manager, Indian Bank, Barasat Zone.
This initiative represents a significant step towards boosting financial inclusion and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements in the region.
