The Orientation Programme for the 1st semester PG students was held in SVPISTM Auditorium on Monday, August 18, 2025. The event started with the welcome address by the Director of the college, Dr. P. Alli Rani, in which she congratulated the students on choosing specialization courses from this college. She reiterated that the textile sector is a very progressive one, and highlighted how it played a pivotal role in every aspect of life. She said that no other college in India offered such diversified courses. She further explained how Coimbatore has always been a great choice for textile entrepreneurs for opening their startups and brands.

Following the welcome address, the Guest of Honour, Dr. S. K. Sundararaman, Managing Director of Shiva Texyarn Ltd., delivered his address. He welcomed the new set of students and asked them to develop the art of management, innate curiosity to explore the world around them and inculcate a distinctive spark in themselves during the next 18 months of their college life. He also advised them to observe and think out of the box, be diligent and push their boundaries, so as to be better leaders in future.

 

The Chief Guest for the event, Shri Sanjay Jain, Managing Director of TT Ltd., New Delhi and Chairman of ICC National Expert Committee on Textiles, focused on keeping the basic principles of human life intact. He emphasized the importance of developing a sense of marketing, which will enable the students to market their ideas in a better way. He also asked the students to use AI intelligently and understand the logic behind the facts that Google and AI tools provide. He also informed the students about the availability of few AI apps that are useful for textiles, which could be effectively utilized for creating designs. He motivated the students by encouraging them to think out of the box, be bold in their action and ask questions in life. He also presented a copy of his newly authored book, “A pinch of salt in the recipe called life” to the college library.

A presentation titled, “From Campus to Corporate: An Alumni Success Story” was made by Shri. Akhilesh, a Management Trainee with Teejay India Pvt. Ltd., He told the students how SVPISTM played a pivotal role in shaping his dreams and asked them to be humble, develop the skills of emotional intelligence and believe in the power of asking questions and create their own brands.
