FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE FOR TRIBALS IN TRAINING AND SKILLING

Replying today an un-starred question of Dr. Inddra Hang Subba the Union Minister of State for Tribal Affairs Shri Durgadas Uikey informed Lok Sabha today that the Ministry of Tribal Affairs provides financial assistance to States / UTs for setting up of Van Dhan Vikas Kendras (VDVKs) under Pradhan Mantri Janjatiya Vikas Mission (PMJVM) and Pradhan Mantri JanjatiAdiwasi Nyaya Maha Abhiyan (PM-JANMAN) schemes for value addition of Minor Forest Produce (MFP) / non-MFPs. Training and capacity building / skilling of members associated with these VDVKs is an integral part of the scheme. So far, a total of 4624 VDVKs have been sanctioned across the country, associating 12.68 Lakhs members, including tribal youths. The State-wise funds sanctioned for establishment of VDVKs are given at Annexure.
(c) The Ministry has no specific scheme to facilitate the employment of tribal youths in Multi-National Companies (MNCs).
