RBI Executive Director visits FI Saturation camp at Bannerghatta Gram Panchayat in Bengaluru

Banks are engaged in a country-wide campaign, being conducted at Gram Panchayat level from July 1, 2025 to September 30, 2025, for saturation of Financial Inclusion (FI) schemes, as part of which, re-KYC of bank accounts is being undertaken. The camps are also being utilized to create awareness about unclaimed deposits, grievance redressal and cyber frauds. The progress in achievement of the expected outcomes is being monitored closely by the Government and the Reserve Bank of India.

To provide further impetus to the ongoing campaign, RBI Executive Director Shri Radha Shyam Ratho visited a camp in Bannerghatta Gram Panchayat in Anekal Taluk on August 29, 2025. Ms. Beena Vaheed ED, Bank of Baroda and Shri. Bhavendra Kumar, ED, Canara Bank also visited the camp, along with Smt. Sonali Sen Gupta, Regional Director, RBI, Shri Yathish. R, ZP CEO and senior officials from Union Bank of India and State Bank of India.

During the visit, ED, RBI interacted with bank customers, business correspondents, as well as officials of various banks who participated in the camp. Addressing the participants on this occasion, he underscored the importance of Financial Inclusion and lauded the efforts taken by banks towards achieving universal financial inclusion. He also reviewed the progress in coverage of accounts under re-KYC.

He underlined the importance of KYC and advised the customers to update their KYC details with the bank as and when required, for getting uninterrupted and safe banking services. Customers were also requested to make use of the opportunity to enrol themselves in various social security schemes during the campaign. Around 2200 people participated in the camp and benefitted from it.

During the day of the camp, Bank of Baroda branches in the Bannerghatta Gram Panchayat have reportedly made 692 PMJJBY enrolments, 941 PMSBY enrolments, 292 APY enrolments, opened 502 new PMJDY accounts, settled 14 insurance claims and carried out Re-KYC for 3344 customers. As part of the outreach initiative, loans amounting to ₹14.08 crore were sanctioned to various SHGs. The camps will continue till September 30, 2025 across Gram Panchayats and bank customers are requested to make full use of the services being offered in these camps.
