TRAI Assesses Network Quality Across Hyderabad - Nizamabad NH, Nizamabad City and their adjoining areas in the State of Andhra Pradesh (under Andhra Pradesh Licensed Service Area)

The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) released its Independent Drive Test (IDT) findings for the Andhra Pradesh Licensed Service Area (LSA), covering extensive city routes of Hyderabad - Nizamabad NH, Nizamabad City in the month of July 2025. The drive tests conducted under the supervision of the TRAI Regional Office, Hyderabad, were designed to capture real-world mobile network performance across diverse usage environments- Urban Zones, Institutional Hotspots, rural residential areas etc. 

Between 28th July 2025 to 30th July 2025, TRAI teams conducted detailed tests for 162.6Km Hyderabad - Nizamabad NH, 404.9 Kms Nizamabad City drive test, 1.0 Km Walk test and 6 Hotspot locations. Technologies evaluated included 2G, 3G, 4G, and 5G, reflecting the service experience of users across multiple handset capabilities. The findings of the IDT have been intimated to all the TSPs concerned.

Key Parameters Assessed:

a) Voice Services: Call Setup Success Rate (CSSR), Drop Call Rate (DCR), Call Setup Time, Call Silence Rate, Speech Quality (MOS), Coverage.

b) Data Services: Download/Upload Throughput, Latency, Jitter, Packet Drop Rate, and Video Streaming Delay.

The overall mobile network performance in Hyderabad - Nizamabad NH, Nizamabad city is summarized below:

Call Setup Success Rate - Airtel, BSNL, RJIL and VIL have call setup success rate of 98.29%, 97.18%, 99.62% and 98.68% respectively in Auto-selection mode (5G/4G/3G/2G).

Drop Call Rate - Airtel, BSNL, RJIL and VIL have drop call rate of 0.00%, 5.61%, 0.00% and 0.76% respectively in Auto-selection mode (5G/4G/3G/2G).

 

CSSR: Call Setup Success Rate (in %), CST: Call Setup Time (in seconds), DCR: Drop Call Rate (in %) & MOS: Mean Opinion Score.

Call Setup Success Rate: Airtel, BSNL, RJIL and VIL have call setup success rate of 98.29 %, 97.18%, 99.62% and 98.68% respectively in Auto-selection mode (5G/4G/3G/2G).

 

Call Setup Time: Airtel, BSNL, RJIL & VIL have call setup time of 0.98, 3.28, 0.77 and 0.80 seconds respectively in Auto-selection mode (5G/4G/3G/2G).

 

Drop Call Rate: Airtel, BSNL, RJIL and VIL have drop call rate of 0.00%, 5.61%, 0.00% and 0.76% respectively in Auto-selection mode (5G/4G/3G/2G).

 

Call Silence/Mute Rate: Airtel, RJIL and VIL have silence call rate of 1.15%, 2.10% and 0.70% respectively in packet switched network (4G/5G).

 

Mean Opinion Score (MOS): Airtel, BSNL, RJIL and VIL have average MOS 3.95, 2.75, 3.83 and 3.74 respectively.

Summary-Data services

Data Download performance (Overall): Average download speed of Airtel (5G/4G/2G) is 142.47 Mbps, BSNL (4G/3G/2G) is 2.93 Mbps, RJIL (5G/4G) is 248.19 Mbps and VIL (4G/2G) is 23.71 Mbps.

Data Upload performance (Overall): Average upload speed of Airtel (5G/4G/2G) is 24.39 Mbps, BSNL (4G/3G/2G) is 1.88 Mbps, RJIL (5G/4G) is 21.43 Mbps and VIL (4G/2G) is 7.90 Mbps.

 

Latency (Overall): Airtel, BSNL, RJIL and VIL 50th percentile latency is 24.60 ms, 33.60 ms, 20.95 ms and 44.90 ms respectively.

 

Data performance - Hotspots (in Mbps):

Airtel- 4G D/L: 32.55      4G U/L: 6.36

In Hyderabad - Nizamabad NH, the assessment included the areas of Hyderabad to Nizamabad passing through NH-44 along with some cities like Masaipet, Narsingi, Ramayampet, Bhiknoor, Kamareddy, Dhaggi and Dharmaram etc.

In Nizamabad City, the assessment included the areas nearby Patharajampet, Lingapur, Kamareddy, Gandhari, Medipalle, Banswada, Rudrur, Pandu tarafa, Nehru Nagar, Mubarak Nagar, Nandipet, Macheria, Armur and Jakranpalle etc.

TRAI also evaluated real-world conditions at 1. Bus Stand Kamareddy, 2. Collector Office Nizamabad, 3. Kanteshwar Temple, 4. Nizamabad Area Hospital 5. Railway Station, Kamareddy 6. Venu Mall, Nizamabad to reflect stationary user experience.
