Mega Camp Sees Active Participation from 93 Residents of Khamdong and Adjoining Areas

Camp Facilitates on the spot Re-KYC and Enrolments under Various Social Security Schemes

The State Bank of India (SBI), in its capacity as Convenor of the State Level Bankers' Committee (SLBC), Sikkim, hosted a Mega Financial Inclusion Camp at Khamdong Block Administrative Centre, Singtam, Sikkim, as part of the 3-Month Saturation Campaign initiated by the Department of Financial Services (DFS), Government of India, on September 9, 2025.

The program saw active participation from 93 residents of Khamdong and adjoining areas. Shri T. Jamang, Regional Director, RBI, Gangtok, graced the event as the Chief Guest. Other dignitaries present included Shri Roshan Subba, SDM, Khamdong-Singtam (Rabdang), Shri Dorjee Sherpa, BDO, Khamdong, Government of Sikkim, Shri Gopal Lama, Assistant General Manager, SLBC (Sikkim), and three Panchayat Presidents from Khamdong Area.

The camp facilitated enrolments under various financial inclusion and social security schemes, with key outcomes including a total of 93 participants attending the camp, Re-KYC completion for 12 individuals, and 15 and 5 enrolments made under the Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY) and Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY) schemes, respectively.

In his keynote address, the Regional Director, RBI, emphasized the importance of periodic re-KYC for compliance and customer protection. He also sensitized participants on procedures to follow in cases of failed digital transactions and cyber frauds, highlighting grievance redressal mechanisms under the Reserve Bank Ombudsman Scheme.

The Regional Director urged banks to establish a Business Correspondent outlet at Khamdong Block to ensure greater financial accessibility for the local community.

The program was also addressed by Shri Gopal Lama, AGM, SLBC (Sikkim); Shri Roshan Subba, SDM, Rabdang; Shri D Sherpa, BDO, Khamdong; and Shri Sharma, Panchayat President. They reiterated the significance of extending financial inclusion schemes to the grassroots level.

The Mega Camp concluded successfully, creating awareness, facilitating enrolments, and reinforcing the commitment of banks and stakeholders towards achieving the objectives of the 3-Month Saturation Campaign of the Government of India.
