A high-level seminar on Quality Assurance strategies for evolving military UAVs & Drones was held under the aegis of the Directorate of Quality Assurance (R&S) in the DGQA technical complex, Secunderabad.

Shri. N. Manoharan, DG, DGQA in his keynote address highlighted the importance of Drones for future wars. ADGQA(R&S) Shri. RA Govardhan shared DGQA’s plan of establishing a Centre of excellence for drones in Secunderabad shortly. Mr. Praveen, Director of Aerospace & Defence, Govt of Telangana, elucidated on the Govt perspectives for Defence manufacturing. 

Academia & Drone Industries of Hyderabad which is fast emerging as a defence manufacturing hub were represented by Dr. Syam Narayanan, TiHAN, (IIT, Hyderabad), Mr. NSP Varma, RCMA (Cemilac), Mr. A. Rajasenthil (L&T), Mr. Virath Nair (M/s Kalyani Rafael Advanced Systems), Captain Sanooj Sulaiman (Bharat Dynamic Limited), Mr. Ayush Mazumdar (Binford), Mr Siddhesh Sahane (Ideaforge Tech Limited), Mr. Vasudevan (Raphe mPhibr Pvt Ltd), Mr. Prashant (Tj IOT satellite navigation systems), Mr.Tejaswi (Avision), Smt Pavani (M/s Radiant), Mr.Subhas (Alpha defence & aerospace), Colonel Vivekanand (CDM), Lt Colonel Pourush (MAG5), Mr. Krishna Sai (BDL) were prominent names among many others. 

The seminar covered niche technology topics to include air worthiness, drone certification, Software QA, Verification & Validation, etc. The inaugural address was given by Brig Ashish Chand, DDG®, HQ DQA(R&S). The context setting of seminar was done by Brigadier Akash Dhole, Controller, CQA(S). Colonel Nitin Bhatia elucidated on the user feedback to the drone industry. Brigadier Sanjay Mohanty informed the audience on the proposed framework for Security Testing of Military Drones.

 

The program culminated with a very live panel discussion moderated by Colonel AD Sharma & all the above speakers wherein lessons from Ukraine war to Operation Sindoor & future framework for ensuring quality & reliability of drones was discussed. All the Industry partners & academia praised DGQA’s initiative in planning a centre of excellence for drones in Secunderabad.
