Gone are the days when Nagpur and other regions of Vidarbha were considered backward. With state-of-the-art infrastructure projects, the city now has the potential to become a global hub, said Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Shri Nitin Gadkari in Nagpur on Friday.

Shri Gadkari inaugurated the New 4 Lane , 2.85 km long Late Gyanyogi Dr. Shrikant Jichkar Flyover on Nagpur Amaravati NH 53. It is constructed at a cost of Rs. 191 crore. The flyover connects Amravati Road’s Bhole Petrol Pump Square to Nagpur University Campus Square, easing traffic congestion and reducing travel time.

Highlighting a crucial upcoming project, Shri Gadkari announced that the country’s first flash-charging electric AC public bus with a seating capacity of 135 passengers will soon be launched in Nagpur as a pilot project. Initially, the service will operate on Ring Road routes and will later be expanded to other routes of the city.

For the city’s holistic development, new ring road and flyover projects have been proposed. Wholesale markets causing congestion in the main city are also planned to be shifted to new, modern facilities with world-class infrastructure.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Shri Devendra Fadnavis, who was prominently present at the event, spoke about upcoming infrastructure initiatives and announced the establishment of the state’s largest orange processing food park at Katol.

Maharashtra Revenue Minister Shri Chandrashekhar Bawankule, Minister of State Adv. Ashish Jaiswal, and other dignitaries were also present on the occasion.
