Chief Executive Officer of Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), Shri Bhuvnesh Kumar, gave a talk on Aadhaar Authentication in the Banking, Financial Services and Insurance (BFSI) sector during the workshop held by RBI on KYC, AML and CFT for NBFCs at the RBI’s College of Agricultural Banking in Pune on 12^th September 2025.

Thereafter, he visited one of the two Mega Mandatory Biometric Update (MBU) camps being conducted in Madhav Sadashiv Golvalkar School in Pune. The other Mega MBU camp is ongoing at Genba Mauze Prashala, Yerwada, since the last three days. These Mega MBU camps are being conducted in a cluster of two or more schools. A total of six Aadhaar kits (three each of School Education Department, Maharashtra and Department of Posts) are running in these Mega school camps in Pune.

During his interaction with School Principals & staff, Shri Bhuvnesh Kumar emphasised the importance of conducting MBU camps in mission mode to keep students’ Aadhaar updated, which in turn helps students in authentication for various exams. He also interacted with operators of Aadhaar kits and officials of School Education Department & Department of Posts and appreciated their jointly coordinated effort with UIDAI for conducting these camps.

UIDAI has begun a Mission Mode Mandatory Biometric Update (MBU) campaign to update Aadhaar cards of school students between the age of 5–17 years across all schools through integration of Aadhaar updation data with the UDISE+ portal. Biometric update of Aadhaar card is free for children of age 5–7 years and 15–17 years. It is chargeable at ₹100 per biometric update for children of age 7–15 years. This campaign is a coordinated effort between UIDAI, School Education Department (Maharashtra) and other departments such as Department of Posts (Government of India) and Department of IT (Maharashtra).
