Launching the 14th Pension Adalat at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi on 10.09.2025, Dr. Jitendra Singh lauded the initiative of conducting the Pension Adalats for its ‘whole of government approach’ by bringing together all the concerned departments on one platform for expeditious and effective resolution of grievances. He highlighted that the initiative has not only expedited grievance redressal but also reinforced the government’s commitment to pensioners as active contributors to society.
894 grievances related to grievances of super senior and family pensioners pertaining to 21 Departments/Ministries belonging to the Departments under Ministry of Defence, Ministry of Home Affairs, Finance, Railways, Housing & Urban Affairs, Civil Aviation etc. were taken up in the Adalat for redressal out of which 652 grievances were resolved on the spot underscoring the efficiency of this initiative in delivering timely justice to pensioners.
There were many heart-warming success stories which came out of the Adalat held on 10.09.2025. Excerpts of some of the cases are mentioned below to appreciate the struggles experienced by the Pensioners and how the mechanism of Pension Adalat enabled them to get their long-pending rightful dues.
Smt. Kamla Devi
Smt. Kamala Devi, an 84-year-old widow of the late Sh. Sardar Singh who retired from the 9th Bn CRPF on August 3, 1976 belongs to Haryana.The issue was significant delay in the start of her family pension, which had been pending since July 21, 2021. It was apprised in the Adalat by CRPF authorities that her case has been resolved and sanction for start of dual family pension has been issued.Arrears of dual family pension for Rs, 7,37,353/- from 22/07/2021 to 30/06/2025 has been also authorised.
Ms Lakshmibai Bajirao Phadtare
The case of Ms Lakshmibai Bajirao Phadtare who belongs to Maharashtra was to process revised PPO and pending family pension arrears. It was apprised in the Adalat by the Ministry of Railways authorities that her case has been resolved and CPPC SBI, Mumbai has informed that arrears amounting to Rs 3,67,542/- for the period 01.01.2015 to 31.07.2025 has been paid on 16.08.2025.
Sangita Tomar
Smt Sangita Tomar belongs to Madhya Pradesh. She had raised a request to resolve delay in the family pension. She was spouse of Late Sh. Mangal Singh Tomar, a BSF Head Constable who died on duty on August 10, 2024. Despite her submitting the necessary documents to his unit, the family pension had not started and a PPO had not been issued. It was apprised by the BSF authorities in the Adalat that her case has been resolved and PPO has been generated. The family pension has also been started. Rs 4,57,012/- has been paid to her as arrears.
Smt Ranjeet Kaur
Smt Ranjeet Kaur who belongs to Haryana is the widow of Havildar Late Lakhwider Singh, who died on 15 April 2006 while on duty. Her case for an additional Rs 5,00,000 in Ex-gratia allowance was pending. It was apprised in the Adalat by the CGDA and PCDA, MoD that the amount of Ex-gratia for Rs.5,00,000/- is being credited into her bank account.
Shri Hoshiar Singh
Shri Hoshiar Singh belongs to Himachal Pradesh. He had raised a grievance regarding the non-payment of the correct pension amount. It was apprised in the Adalat by the O/o CGDA and PCDA, MoD thathis casehas beenresolved and Basicpension has beenrevisedand arrearsofRs. 36,738/- have also been paid.
Smt Sarti Devi
Smt Sarti Devi belongs to Haryana. She was awaiting revision of my family pension in accordance with the OROP-II tables since July 2019. It was apprised in the Adalat by the O/o CGDA and PCDA, MoD that her case has been resolved and pension has been revised under OROP II and arrears for the amount Rs 1,10, 502/- due to her will be credited into her account at the earliest.
Smt Shakira Begam
Smt. Sakira Begam, widow of late Rafi-ul-Islam (Havildar) and belongs to West Bengal had not received the correct family pension arrears. Her Non-Payment Certificate (NPC) from PNB and due/drawn statement were awaited. It was apprised in the Adalat by the Department of Financial Services and PNB thatarrears amounting to Rs 4,4813/- have been processed and will be paid in next payment cycle.
