India Post’s Modern services and Digital Initiatives connecting upto last mile-Postmaster General Krishna Kumar Yadav


Postmaster General Krishna Kumar Yadav Inaugurated ‘Postal Business Development and Financial Inclusion’ Maha Mela at Odhav Industries Association, Ahmedabad

Department of Posts is strengthening its role in Digital India and Financial Inclusion. With its vast network, accessibility, and reliable services, various welfare schemes are reaching the last mile of society with ease. Local products have reached the global level through Dakghar Niryat Kendra. Due to secure investment and attractive interest rates, the savings schemes of the Post Office continue to remain extremely popular. These views were expressed by Shri Krishna Kumar Yadav, Postmaster General of North Gujarat Region, while inaugurating the ‘Postal Business Development and Financial Inclusion’ Maha Mela organized on 16th September at Odhav Industries Association auditorium by Ahmedabad City Division. Through this Maha Mela, citizens were provided information about various postal services while Postmaster General Shri Krishna Kumar Yadav distributed passbooks and policy bonds to the beneficiaries of savings schemes, Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana, Postal Life Insurance, and India Post Payments Bank. Shri Yadav also felicitated postal employees for their exemplary performance and encouraged them. On this occasion, Senior Superintendent of Ahmedabad City Division, Shri Chirag Mehta, President of Odhav Industries Association Shri Mukeshbhai Vekaria, Municipal Councilor of Odhav Ward, Shri Rajesh Kumar Dave and Ms Nitaben Desai, IPPB Chief Manager Shri Abhijeet Jibhkate were also present.

While addressing the Maha Mela, Postmaster General Shri Krishna Kumar Yadav said that the Post Office is no longer just a mail delivery centre, but has transformed into service delivery centre with various services under a roof. India Post, by expanding its functions, has made services more accessible and convenient through digital platforms, thereby making the process of delivering benefits to citizens even more effective. Shri KK Yadav added that continuous innovations are taking place in postal services. Under the PM Vishwakarma Yojana, tool kits have been delivered to over 1.04 lakh artisans across the country from Ahmedabad. During the month of Sawan, Ahmedabad GPO booked over 4.5 lakh Bilva Patra for Shri Somnath Trust, which were delivered to devotees nationwide. After the implementation of ‘Advanced Postal Technology 2.0’ in Post offices, work efficiency in post offices has significantly increased. On 13th September, Shri Yash Vaishnani, Branch Postmaster of Harniyav Branch Post Office,  set an all-India record by booking 2,513 accountable mails in a single day. Such innovations reflect the changing face of the Department of Posts, the modernization of its services, and the growing trust of customers.

Senior Superintendent of Post Offices, Ahmedabad City Division, Shri Chirag Mehta said that the main objective of this Maha Mela is to create public awareness about various Post Office schemes and to connect more and more people with them. He said that under financial inclusion in Ahmedabad, a total of 13.50 lakh savings accounts, 7.3 lakh savings certificates, 1.12 lakh Sukanya Samriddhi accounts, and 1.46 lakh India Post Payments Bank accounts are being operated. In Ahmedabad, 105 villages have been declared as ‘Sampoorna Sukanya Samriddhi Gram’, 36 villages as ‘Sampoorna Bima Gram’, and 22 villages as ‘Sampoorna Bachat Gram’. In this financial year, over 46,000 people have availed Aadhaar services through Post Offices and over 29,000 through IPPB.

As a special guest, Municipal Councilor of Odhav Ward, Shri Rajesh Kumar Dave, said that the services of the Post Office have always been reliable and it has consistently played a role in connecting people. Councilor Ms. Nitaben Desai said that Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana, launched by Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi under the ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’ campaign, not only secures the future of girl child but also promotes positive thinking and equality towards them in society. President of Odhav Industries Association, Shri Mukeshbhai Vekaria, said that the post office is deeply connected with the memories and lives of all of us.

On this occasion, Sukanya Samriddhi account holder, girl-child Heer Modi, praised the Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana and urged people to open accounts under this scheme in the name of their daughters. Jainam Shah of Preeti Gruh Udyog shared his experience, explaining how his business expanded rapidly across the country and abroad with the support of the Post Office.
