India – UK Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA) Niryat Bandhu outreach program, Bengaluru

The regional office of the  Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), Bengaluru along with the office of the British Deputy High Commission, Bengaluru hosted the “India-UK Free Trade Agreement (CETA) Outreach Programme”, to highlight the opportunities arising from the India-UK Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA) on 19th September, 2025. The event saw a huge participation of the industry and trade community.

Smt. Dona Ghosh, Head of the regional office of DGFT, Bangalore, inaugurated the event, underscoring the growth of Indian exports with special emphasis on Karnataka’s potential in global trade landscape, and the vital role of DGFT as a facilitator. She commended the India-UK partnership and the far-reaching benefits of the CETA.

Shri. Unnikrishnan K, Joint Director, FIEO, lauded India’s proactive FTA strategy with complementary economies and expressed optimism about Indian exporters gaining access to the high-value UK market.

Shri Chandru Iyer, British Deputy High Commissioner, delivered an engaging address, highlighting the trade pact's comprehensive nature—covering market access, digital trade, sustainability, and more. He stressed the need for exporter preparedness to benefit from the CETA.

Shri Adarsh K, Assistant DGFT, delivered a detailed technical presentation breaking down key provisions of CETA. He engaged in an extensive Q&A session, patiently addressing complex queries from exporters. His clarity and in-depth responses ensured that participants left with actionable understanding.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Shri Thalapathy Ram Kumar, Deputy DGFT, who expressed gratitude to dignitaries, DGFT and FIEO teams, and participants. He reaffirmed DGFT’s commitment to conduct several programs under the Niryat Bandhu Scheme for handholding exporters through this new and promising trade era.
