Rashtriya Raksha University Concludes International Training on Geoinformatics, Disaster Risk Reduction, and National Security

Rashtriya Raksha University (RRU) successfully concluded the Two Weeks ITEC Training Programme on Geoinformatics, Disaster Risk Reduction & National Security, held from 8th to 19th September 2025. The programme brought together participants from 19 ITEC partner countries, fostering global collaboration on disaster preparedness and national security. The programme witnessed active reflection of the spirit of global cooperation and knowledge-sharing in the domains of geospatial technology, disaster preparedness, and national security.

The valedictory ceremony began with a welcome address by Mr Bhawani Sinh Rathore, Director (I/C), SISSP, who emphasised the University’s commitment to capacity-building initiatives that address pressing global challenges. Delivering the valedictory address, Prof. (Dr.) Kalpesh H. Wandra, Pro-Vice Chancellor, RRU, applauded the cross-cultural learning and stressed the significance of international collaboration in building resilient communities and strengthening global security frameworks. Dr. Subhajit Bandopadhyay, Assistant Professor and Programme Coordinator, presented a detailed course report, highlighting multidisciplinary sessions on Geographic Information Systems, Fundamentals and Physics of Remote Sensing, National Geospatial Policy, Climate Threat & Geoinformatics Implications for National Security, Geodata Sharing and Cyber Security, India’s First Responder’s Approach and Policy Architecture for HADR, Geo-Governance and the Role of Spatial Technology, and the role of ISRO’s advanced platforms in disaster governance. He also underlined the importance of integrating theory with practice through field visits to GIDM, ISR, SEOC, GIFT City, and Trinetra Surveillance Operations.

The programme blended academic rigour with practical exposure, leaving a meaningful impact on participants and reinforcing India’s commitment to global disaster risk reduction and security governance. The cross-cultural collaboration and exchange of ideas have not only enriched participants’ capabilities but also strengthened international cooperation in the field of DRR and security governance.
