The Central Silk Board celebrated its 76th Foundation Day at the Gandhi Krishi Vigyan Kendra in Bengaluru today. Dr. K. Sudhakar, Member of Parliament from Chikkaballapur, presented awards to outstanding sericulturists during the event. In his address, he explained the significance of silk and the silk clusters and mentioned that all kinds of support and assistance would be provided to silk farmers.

Earlier, Shri G. Lakshmi Narayana, Member of Parliament from Anantapur, inaugurated the exhibition of silk products. In his subsequent speech, he shared his views on strengthening sericulture.

Smt. Padmini Singla, Joint Secretary (Silk) of the Central Ministry of Textiles, expressed confidence that India would achieve self-reliance in sericulture by adopting innovative technologies. On this occasion, she distributed appointment letters to the newly appointed agricultural scientists.

Shri P. Sivakumar, Member Secretary of the Central Silk Board, Shri Naresh Babu, Joint Secretary (Technology), other board officials, and silk farmers participated in the event.
