The Union Minister for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, Shri Jitan Ram Manjhi, visited Nalbari district in Assam today to review the progress and implementation of various flagship schemes of the Central Government.

The minister took a review meeting at the DC's office which focused on evaluating the status of key departments, including Panchayat and Rural Development, Education (Elementary and Secondary), Public Health Engineering (PHE), Health and Family Welfare, Agriculture, Public Works Department (PWD), Social Welfare, Food and Civil Supply, Industries and Commerce, Irrigation and Fisheries, among others.

While addressing a press meet the minister asserted that the government under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi gives utmost priority to the development of the Northeast region.  He further said that as part of Prime Minister’s vision and decision, each North-eastern state will have the visit of a Union Minister  to review the progress of developmental schemes of the central government.

Shri Manjhi expressed his satisfaction with the overall implementation of development schemes in the district. He especially appreciated the irrigation and power supply infrastructure, noting their significant role in boosting rural livelihoods and economic growth.

The review meeting was attended by Shri Chandra Mohan Patowary, Minister for Environment, Forest & Climate Change, Act East Policy Affairs, Government of Assam; Shri Nibedan Das Patowary, Deputy Commissioner of Nalbari; and other senior officials and departmental heads.

As part of his visit the Union Minister inaugurated a MSME mela organised at the North Kamrup Stadium and had a brief interaction with the entrepreneurs while visiting the stalls. The minister also visited Barnarddi Gram Panchayat, Bongaon Village and Mahkhuli village under Pachim Nalbari Revenue Circle to assess the on ground implementation of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Gramin).
