Implementation of Swachhta Hi Seva – 2025 and Special Campaign 5.0 in Department of Space

Department of Space Embarks on Special Campaign 5.0 and Swachhta Hi Seva Campaign to Promote Cleanliness, Efficiency, and Sustainability.

The Department of Space has effectively carried out Swachhta Hi Seva Campaign from 17th September to 02nd October, 2025 and actively joined the Government of India’s Special Campaign 5.0, running from 2nd October to 31st October 2025, with a resolute commitment to institutionalizing Swachhata, enhancing space management, & ensuring timely disposal of e-waste and pending files.

Key Highlights:

  • 20 cleanliness campaign sites are identified across DOS/ ISRO Centres/ Units/ Autonomous Bodies. Campaigns are being conducted by respective offices.
  • Cleanliness Targets Units were identified and transformed into cleaner spaces.

- E-Waste Disposal is aligned with the E-Waste Management Rules 2022, ensuring safe and responsible handling of obsolete electronics.

  • Space Optimization initiatives led to the repurposing of unused areas into collaborative workspaces and greener zones.
  • File Review & Disposal: 2500 files are to be weeded out during the implementation phase across all DOS/ ISRO Centres.
  • All the offices are sensitized on achieving the target on disposal of 22 nos. pending public grievances, 06 nos. MP references, 09 nos. parliament assurance and 01 no. PMO references.
  • Innovative Initiatives: Launch of “Waste to Wealth” program at all ISRO campuses showcasing sculptures made from scrap materials.
  • Monitoring of campaign progress by Secretary, Department of Space.
  • Employee engagement through Swachhata Pledge, essay competitions, and awareness lectures/ workshops on safety, health and hygiene.
  • Outreach and Impact: The Department leveraged social media and internal communication platforms to amplify the campaign’s message, ensuring active participation from all levels of staff and stakeholders.

The Department of Space remains committed to supporting the Government’s vision of a cleaner, more efficient, and environmentally responsible administration.
